Its -15 here, and its a great temperature to be heating ALL our domestic hot water needs with wood. The hot water coil in our furnace works great and as long as its at least -5 or so, we can turn off the electricity and just let the wood heat the water as well as the house.
This is how people heated their water 60 years ago with water jackets on their wood stoves and such. Nothing new but it is something more rare these days. One more way to detach oneself from the grid.
