You may be wondering, why all the video posts of late? where are the really written blogs? Well as anyone who knows me knows, my attention span is short, i often have new and exciting things I”m trying. Right now I’m diving into vlogging a bit. Going to see if its something that I find fun as a hobby. I enjoy writing about my projects but sometimes video is even more interesting as the consumer gets see more audio visual of whatever it is I’m working on.
A video blog or video log, sometimes shortened to vlog/ˈvlɒɡ/, is a form of blog for which the medium is video, and is a form of web television. Vlog entries often combine embedded video (or a video link) with supporting text, images, and other metadata. Entries can be recorded in one take or cut into multiple parts. The vlog category is popular on YouTube. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_blog
Blogging is great, but with generic wordpress, I don’t have as much of the fun of commenting and a community since people can’t really and don’t often subscribe to that, in youtube, you have a readership (watchership?) who can subscribe, and it seems to be a place where more folks browse, comment, follow videos daily. Though may do follow my blogs daily as I post them to Facebook, but wider syndication is available in some respect on youtube – though I am indexed well in Google search just due to the number of topics I blog on.
So the flavour of the day is vlogging for now, i’m going to try it on for size, see if its something i continue to enjoy doing and figure out if it makes sense for me. I’ll keep blogging and posting since I do like the ability to host all my own content if i need to but youtube isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
So vlogging has been around for a good while, its really come into its own on youtube I think in the last 5 years or so where people on youtube are almost youtube rockstars just due to subscribership. There are many who do it but I think its certainly unsaturated right now as a place to do this sort of thing. I find most try for a few blogs and give up. Hopefully that won’t be me but we’ll see. I’ll always have my youtube channel even if its only for the occasional project vid or a place to upload and serve my videos from for blog supplements.
Have you been following me? Find it interesting at all? Interested to know what people think of vlogging. Do you have time to watch videos? Don’t forget to subscribe 🙂 See button top right of this article!
