How satisfied would you be living in the garden of Eden? I was thinking about it the other day. With all my technical gadgets, toys, lawn tractors, video games etc, I was wondering whether I would miss them. I think it may come down to whether you fully understand what that Eden would be like. I think lots of people would be disappointed, but its not because of the lack of beauty or abundance. Rather it would be because their hearts were never in the right place from the start.
Think of this, the tribulation is over, the judgement complete, we are living with God in paradise / heaven. He then starts work on fixing the earth, putting it back to its original state
Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John,[a] saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me,[b] “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”
Would kids consider this type of world boring, plain? WOuld they miss their Facebook and txting and whatever else? Its a bit of a redundant question, if one actually IS there, it will mean they were sincere from the start and will understand what makes the place special beyond our wildest imaginations. I just can’t help but wonder if all the rest who never got there, even if they did, would they be unsatisfied because they still don’t get / understand the love of Christ.
Beyond that, I dream of Jurassic park like worlds, massive trees taller than the redwoods in California, blue lagoons and tropical plants everywhere (maybe like Avatar where they light up when touched and interact). I can imagine tall streaming waterfalls, and rainbows and yes even unicorns (I believe they are real. Go google Narwhal… still think they wouldn’t be real?).
Again, I’m left to think, will I be fulfilled, able to live eternally and never get bored. My limited imagination has room ironically for that thought. In actuality I know it will be incredible, far different and more amazing than our lives here. I won’t even think about what I had here to play with, there will be so much more.
What do you think? Are you excited about heaven? Do you know you’re going there for sure? Saved by the blood of Jesus Christ?
If you don’t know, you’d better figure that out soon!
