First a definition, cause I had to look it up ;). The spelling of aisle. I honestly dont recall ever using that word in written or typed form…
An aisle is, in general, a space for walking with rows of seats on both sides or with rows of seats on one side and a wall on the other. Aisles can be seen in airplanes, certain types of buildings such as churches, cathedrals, synagogues, meeting halls, parliaments and legislatures, courtrooms, theatres, and in certain types of passenger vehicles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aisle
So yesterday I discovered an apple tree that looks to be on our property. The lines aren’t super well defined though there are some stakes there. There are 2 or 3 other apple trees on the neighbours property which over arc onto the vacant property, all of which are effectively unkept, untrimmed etc. Not in good shape generally. Not sure if they or anyone harvests apples from them anymore. And we even planted our own tree hoping to have our very OWN apple tree.
So as I was exploring the back of our property I noticed apples on the ground. Too far from the other apple trees I thought, someone could have thrown them over here from those but again, didn’t make sense. Too many of them so I deduced that there must be an apple tree in there which I couldn’t believe. Surely we would have noticed it a long time ago right?? Nope… Hidden behind a big old sumac, and surrounded by even older pine trees and caged in tall grass and prickles. Really, its like a secret hidden nature circle, thats right, a ‘nature circle’ 😛
As you can see in the pic, I was able to rescue a bunch of the remaining apples that hadn’t fallen, though a few that hadn’t fallen were half eaten by squirrels or something.
I am just always mesmerized and blown away that we can pick apples off trees that just grow naturely… you don’t even need to pay to go to an orchard to get them. Incredible! ‘the Mother Nature Lode!’ God is genius and thats and understatement right!
My plans are to clear out the brush around it and trim it back a bit, its kinda unwieldy right now after many years of apparent disregard. Next year we will probably be able to get a full harvest from it! Woot!
Free produce, and all you have to do is walk down Gods produce aisle, ie, walk into nature a little and collect its bounty!
Thank you Lord for the simple things that we have for so long forgotten about!
