The iPad Office
With the birth of our second child I’ve had the opportunity to attempt again to use the iPad as a workstation, albeit for some real basic tasks. Its served as our primary internet access in the hospital, via 3G (so glad that I got 3G. there are many different occasions when 3G is handy. Great for a phone call in a pinch when we don’t have our pay-as-you-go cellphone, or to look up an address, store ours, or phone numbers on the go. Also handy obviously anywhere there isn’t Wifi or where the Wifi happens to be down). The...

How can I have a fresh new baby and not blog about it right? Born April 17, at 9:58am is Jack Barrett Gallant, at a healthy 8lbs 4 ounces. The whole thing was relatively easy / uncomplicated which was a change from the first one where they thought Arden was in distress or something. Turned out not to be the case but they took steps to be sure. We spent 7 days or so in the hospital that time, felt like we’d never get out. As of writing this, we’ve been in the hospital only a day and a half or so and should be getting discharged...
read moreMorning fisherman
Not that you can see them so well but these are the first few of the fisherman that frequent the river. I really don’t think they ever get much, as our river,… Unfortunately… Is kinda dead do to lack of oxygen cause of chemicals and garbage over the years. Its nice entertainment though, not that there’s a lot of action, but always some kind of activity outside. I would love to see the day when people were catching fish there again! I did try out my fishin rod last year, caught nothing of course, I’m a horriblly...

One of the more handy things to have around the shop is this thing, a mobile battery pack. Something with a handle that you can take over to the car or the lawn tractor or whatever to provide power, light, etc. I love it, so versatile. And this particular model is even more handy than some of the other ones you can buy, this one has a light, a 12volt plug, usb charger, AND air compressor on the backside. An all around workhorse for all the powered help you may need around the shop. I’ve used the compressor a number of times now for...

As we’re waiting for our second child to come, I’ve been working on my own baby, my Bolens 1054. I just purchased a hunk of metal (see image) that I intend to use as a parts tractor. So far so good. The main piece is the engine, its a 10HP Tecumseh Heavy Duty cast iron. Its also electric start which was key (who pulls a cord to start engines these days right?! ..). Engine turned over, seemed to have compression so I took a chance on it. I’ve since WD40′d it all up, put a bunch straight down the cylinder on top of the...

Here is a quick update, some of the sites and scenes of the first few months of 2012. Really haven’t been updating my ‘old’ album. I do like these little inline ones much nicer though! And I really don’t know a whole consolidated library online… I think I’ll stick with these little albums for now. Enjoy! Slideshow: Fullscreen: Download:

So God is a god of big things and small things. Right? He doesn’t keep count, or divvy out a certain amount and say ‘thats it’. I was driving my bike in first gear down each side of our road, I somehow somewhere lost my right side passenger foot peg… Must have happened when I was riding in sub zero temps, the frame must have warmed up enough to loosen its grip on the bolts holding the foot peg. As I was driving, I was thinking, is this a good time to ask for Gods help? You know, when you ask God to help you find that...

Its Good Friday today. I’m (again) drinking coffee, second cup (no NOT Second Cup TM, second cup of my freshly roasted beans … ) . Church service in 1 hour or so. We’re actually not scheduled for worship or anything, how bizarre?! We’ve been given a break for the next month from being on worship to, again, how bizarre right?! I guess its good, what with the new baby on the way and all. Breads (ingredients) in the maker, wood is in the fire (slightly cool out, -0.1 or something), Arden is eating her breakfast and all...

I’ve found a new part time hobby! Buying and selling stuff On usedpei usedeverywhere has created a couple apps for iPad and iPhone. One is used viewer, it simply let’s you view usedpei or other location sites, doesn’t let you post or edit ads etc. and when emailing someone about an ad, it shoots you out to the browser ( in app) to use the standard is the email form. The second is used post app, it’s for iPhone, but allows you to post real time, take pics and upload them right away, select categories, add price, etc....

Due now, ya! I have to get my bike inspected, I have to get my teeth inspected on wednesday, I have to renew / update my insurance for my bike next week, I have to get my boating certificate, soon I’ll need to get my annual car inspection. Oh so many things to schedule, and call about. The one thing I don’t like very much about PEI is the requirement for yearly inspections, though having said that, last years inspection did find a serious issue with one of our wheel joints that was about to fall off :/ So they probably are good,...
