The federal reserve and Janet Yellen just raised rates on yesterday to 0.25%. what does it mean for markets, is the economy really doing better? None of the economic indicators have changed, we are still on a downward trajectory. the rate raise saves face, attempts to build confidence in the fed by the markets and adds 1 bullet to the weapon for the fed reserve to use should there be another downturn in the economy, ie they can go from 0.25 back to zero to ‘help’ the economy. its not a significant change by one that appears to at least increase confidence in the markets for the shortterm
