Does money grow on trees? Not literally of course. In a way though, you can actually grow your own wealth. I’m thinking of stories in the bible and characters like Job to had thousands of sheep and camels and all sorts of livestock. Question is, how did he get it all? Did he start out rich and buy it all from local farmers? LIkely not.
Job 1:3 His possessions also were 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, 500 female donkeys, and very many servants; and that man was the greatest of all the men of the east.
He would have built up his inventory of livestock over time through breeding and patience. What is amazing to me is that I could easily literally grow my own wealth this way. Its something most don’t really think about. Most first try to figure out where they will get the money to have a big farm. Thats backwards to the way its been done for thousands of years though. The problem is people don’t want to spend the time, potentially their lifetime building up their wealth, they want wealth NOW. Its an interesting thing to think on really.
So how do I grow my own wealth? I can grow it by breeding chickens, thats the immediate thing I can do and am doing. One can do it through breeding their own pigs or cows too, some for themselves, extras to sell as income and to pay for their own. You can also do it with a garden and selling vegetables on the side. The problem with it all is that it takes time and handwork – which most aren’t willing to do these days.
Funny though, wealth is in a way easy to obtain, all have within themselves the ability to work hard and build up what they have over time. Its not like you need to be rich or something to make an honest effort.
The intangibles we lack then are work ethic and patience. Those priceless things are the things that can potentially provide great wealth.
Proverbs 10:4 A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.
