An dream has sprung up, an ideological view, a greener living for us. We’ve agreed to start looking into the ‘Tiny House’ revolution and I have come up with my own list of things that would make a tiny house right for us.
what is a tiny house? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small_house_movement)
It also needs to passive everything:
The term passive house (Passivhaus in German) refers to a rigorous, voluntary, standard for energy efficiency in a building, reducing its ecological footprint. It results in ultra-low energy buildings that require little energy for space heating or cooling.[
Now we aren’t talking going back to something 200 years ago living like cavemen. This house would have fully modern appliances, a solar array to provide the electricity fully and then some. It would be simple, be cheap to heat with a central wood stove, it would be assisted by passive solar heat.
Much of the purpose is less green and granola really. Much of the purpose is for us to live even more within our means, even live below our maximum means. Doing that provides a monetary buffer for hard times, more disposable income if / when needed and a generally less stressful life.
Oh, and this won’t be a TINY house, just a much smaller house that fits our family and to some extent allows / encourages us to live with less material goods (that we likely don’t use anyways) and to conserve energy and generally be less materialistic in everything.
Stay tuned for more plans and definition. Should the Lord tarry, this will be our goal in the coming years (it actually was a bit of a goal already for our retirement house but its really something we can start now if we really want)
