The Homosexual Agenda

A Canadian television show has been reinstated after being taken off the air in response to the host’s comments about homosexuality.

Although Word TV is back on Crossroads Television System, the Canadian Broadcasting Standards Council (CBSC) is prescreening and censoring its content.

“We spoke against a new proposed sex education curriculum that would teach gender identity, six genders, and sexual orientation to our children,” explains Dr. Charles McVety, president of Canada Christian College and host of the show. “And I believe that this curriculum was for the purpose of teaching our children to be homosexuals.”

Should we be standing beside this guy? Should we as Christians not be worried or complain about laws passed in the land and instead get out there and spread the gospel person to person and then things like this would go away?

Any opinions on whether this is a worthy cause / fight? Should we bother to stand up for anything that is ‘sinful’ and instead focus on Christs love to others adn the rest will work itself out?

I’m very interested to see where people stand, to see whether they are willing to speak out on things like this, one way or another. What would Jesus do?

  1. We seem to have this mistaken idea that, we, as born again Christians, have the God given right and agenda, to march out as political activists and change our world. Jesus, while he walked this earth, never ever did this! Slavery was alive and well in his world. So was rampant homosexuality in government, high society and even the church! Did He speak out against this in any way? NO. All he and Paul basically said was treat your slaves well, and for slaves to work hard for their masters. No mention made at all of going against the government and electing officials to change laws or picketing institutions that catered to “evil” practices. Because Jesus knew that REAL change cannot be legislated, or browbeaten into people- it must come from the inside out. As we allow God into our lives, the Holy Spirit gently changes us as we need to. So all our efforts to induce change based on man-made rules and ways are doomed to failure ultimately. And unfortunately, Jesus made it very clear that in the last days, things would get much worse very quickly. Who are we to stand against what God has made it abundantly clear will and must happen before Jesus is to return?

  2. I checked out the website, and whoa, they must LOVE petitions! I agree that we must speak up to some degree, but Jesus never called us to pass around petitions. He never ran for office or taught people to speak out against their governments. He taught us to live out our love for Him by loving others like He did. Instead of preaching against people’s lifestyles, we’ve got to preach about the state of their souls. The lifestyle change will follow.

    Just my two cents 🙂

  3. Absolutely, you should blog about and write into your MP/MPP and let them know you do not support censorship. If the salt has lost its savour…

Just sitting idly by is what’s called in the Christian-based judicial system “willful negligence.”

I wonder, however, if these guys didn’t make some other unfortunate comments. The quote above is somewhat border-line already.

  4. So, I was interested in the truth of this story so I went digging in google news. Turns out CTS, which is the reputable Christian station in Ontario/Canada, willingly halted the show. From reading it also appears there are allegations of slander/libel/something against people groups, etc. Based on CTS’ actions, it seems like CBSC might have a case. They really should be more open about it, though.
